An act relating to local government early responders;

creating ss. 125.01045 and 166.0446, F.S.; prohibiting

4

counties and municipalities from charging fees or seeking

5

reimbursement for the use of certain early responder

6

services; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Section 125.01045, Florida Statutes, is created

11

to read:

     125.01045 Prohibition of fees for police, fire, and other

13

emergency responders.--A county may not charge a fee or seek

14

reimbursement for any costs or expenses that may be incurred

15

involving the use of police, fire, and other emergency responder

16

services, personnel, supplies, motor vehicles, or equipment in

17

responding to a motor vehicle accident, fire, or other emergency.

     Section 2.  Section 166.0446, Florida Statutes, is created

19

to read:

     166.0446 Prohibition of fees for police, fire, and other

21

emergency responders.--A municipality may not charge a fee or

22

seek reimbursement for any costs or expenses that may be incurred

23

involving the use of police, fire, and other emergency responder

24

services, personnel, supplies, motor vehicles, or equipment in

25

responding to a motor vehicle accident, fire, or other emergency.

26

     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
