A bill to be entitled

An act relating to a review of the Department of

3

Agriculture and Consumer Services under the Florida

4

Government Accountability Act; reenacting s. 20.14(2)(e),

5

(j), and (m), F.S., relating to the divisions of

6

licensing, standards, and consumer services of the

7

department; providing an effective date.

     WHEREAS, ss. 11.901-11.920, F.S., Florida Statutes, the

10

Florida Government Accountability Act, subjects the divisions of

11

Licensing, Standards, and Consumer Services within the Department

12

of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the respective advisory

13

committees to a sunset review process in order to determine

14

whether the agency should be retained, modified, or abolished,

15

and

16

     WHEREAS, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

17

produced a report providing specific information, as enumerated

18

in s. 11.906, Florida Statutes, and

19

     WHEREAS, upon receipt of the report, the Joint Legislative

20

Sunset Committee and committees of the Senate and the House of

21

Representatives assigned to act as sunset review committees

22

reviewed the report and requested studies by the Office of

23

Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, and

24

     WHEREAS, based on the report, studies by the Office of

25

Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, and public

26

input, the legislative sunset review committees made

27

recommendations on the abolition, continuation, or reorganization

28

of the divisions of Licensing, Standards, and Consumer Services

29

within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and

30

the related advisory committees; on the need for the functions

31

performed by these divisions and the advisory committees; and on

32

the consolidation, transfer, or reorganization of programs within

33

the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services under review,

34

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1. Paragraphs (e), (j), and (m) of subsection (2)

39

of section 20.14, Florida Statutes, are reenacted.

40

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
