An act relating to satellite enterprise zones; creating s.

290.00556, F.S.; authorizing certain municipalities to

designate satellite enterprise zones; providing

5

limitations; providing responsibilities of the Office of

6

Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development; providing for

nonapplication of certain requirements to satellite

8

enterprise zones; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Section 290.00556, Florida Statutes, is created

13

to read:

     290.00556 Satellite enterprise zones.--Any municipality an

15

area of which has previously received designation as an

16

enterprise zone in the population category described in s.

17

290.0055(4)(b)4. may create a satellite enterprise zone not

18

exceeding 1.5 square miles in area outside of and,

19

notwithstanding anything contained in s. 290.0055(4) or any other

20

law, in addition to the previously designated enterprise zone

21

boundaries. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

22

Development shall amend the boundaries of the areas previously

23

designated as enterprise zones upon receipt of a resolution

24

adopted by the municipality describing the satellite enterprise

25

zone areas, as long as the additional areas are consistent with

26

the categories, criteria, and limitations imposed by s. 290.0055.

27

However, the requirements imposed by s. 290.0055(4)(c) do not

28

apply to such satellite enterprise zone areas.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
