An act relating to vaccinations; requiring middle schools

to provide information regarding certain vaccinations

4

indicated for adolescents to the parent or guardian of a

5

student entering the 7th grade; requiring the Department

6

of Health to prescribe such information; providing an

7

effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1. Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, each

12

private and public middle school in the state shall provide to

13

the parent or guardian of each public and private school student

14

entering grade 7 information on vaccinations indicated for

15

adolescents approved by the United States Food and Drug

16

Administration and recommended for inoculation by the Advisory

17

Committee on Immunization Practices as published by the Centers

18

for Disease Control and Prevention. The Department of Health

19

shall prescribe the information required to be provided to the

20

parent or guardian of the students for whom the vaccines are

21

approved and recommended.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
