An act relating to hospital county reimbursement; creating

3

s. 154.317, F.S.; authorizing a county hospital or

4

hospital district to request reimbursement of costs of

5

care incurred for an indigent from the county where that

6

indigent is a resident; requiring the county of residency

7

to reimburse the county or county hospital district for

8

costs of care for such indigent within a certain number of

9

days following the date of the request; providing an

10

effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Section 154.317, Florida Statutes, is created to

15

read:

     154.317 Expedited reimbursement process.--Notwithstanding

17

any other provision of this part, any hospital that is an

18

instrumentality of a county and any county hospital district may

19

immediately request reimbursement of reasonable and necessary

20

costs of care incurred for an indigent from the county where that

21

indigent is a resident. The county of residency shall reimburse

22

the county or county hospital district for the reasonable and

23

necessary costs of care for such an indigent within 60 days after

24

the date of the request.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
