2	An act relating to clinical nurse specialists; amending s.
3	464.0115, F.S.; revising requirements for certification as
4	a clinical nurse specialist; providing an effective date.

6	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
7
8	Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 464.0115, Florida
9	Statutes, is amended to read:
10	464.0115  Certification of clinical nurse specialists.--
11	(1)  Any nurse seeking certification as a clinical nurse
12	specialist must apply to the department and submit proof that he
13	or she holds a current license to practice professional nursing,
14	a master's degree in a clinical nursing specialty, and either:
15	(a)  Proof of current certification in a specialty area as
16	a clinical nurse specialist from a nationally recognized
17	certifying body as determined by the board.
18	(b)  Proof that he or she holds a master's degree in a
19	specialty area for which there is no certification within the
20	clinical nurse specialist role and specialty and proof of having
21	completed 1,000 hours of clinical experience in the clinical
22	specialty for which he or she is academically prepared, with a
23	minimum of 500 hours of clinical practice after graduation. The
24	applicant for certification as a clinical nurse specialist must
25	submit an affidavit to the Board of Nursing affirming the
26	required hours of clinical experience. Falsification of the
27	affidavit constitutes grounds for discipline in accordance with
28	s. 464.018(1)(f).
29	Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2008.
