A resolution recognizing American People Against Cop

Killers for the organization's efforts to remember law

4

enforcement officers killed in the line of duty while

5

serving others and recognizing April 19, 2008, as

6

"American People Against Cop Killers Day."

     WHEREAS, American People Against Cop Killers is comprised

9

of retired and current law enforcement officers as well as the

10

family of slain Hernando County Deputy Lonnie C. Coburn, and

11

     WHEREAS, the goal of American People Against Cop Killers is

12

to remember those law enforcement officers killed in the line of

13

duty while serving others, and

14

     WHEREAS, American People Against Cop Killers promotes

15

motorcycle rides to raise funds to assist with scholarship

16

opportunities for new recruits attending any of the Florida

17

Department of Law Enforcement-approved law enforcement academies,

18

and

19

     WHEREAS, the motto of American People Against Cop Killers is

20

"Remembering the Sacrifices of Law Enforcement Officers

21

Everywhere," and

22

     WHEREAS, American People Against Cop Killers has organized

23

the Second Annual Lonnie C. Coburn Memorial Bike Ride to the

24

State Capitol on April 19, 2008, in honor of the 42 fallen

25

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers killed in the line of duty, NOW,

26

THEREFORE,

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

     That April 19, 2008, be recognized as "American People

31

Against Cop Killers Day" in this state.
