Senate Resolution

A resolution recognizing the Florida Junior Community

College Student Government Association (FJCCSGA) on its
4
performance through "50 Years of Issues."

WHEREAS, FJCCSGA has represented community and junior
7
colleges for 50 years, and
8
WHEREAS, FJCCSGA currently represents students from 28
9
colleges in the state of Florida, providing opportunities for
10
leadership training and debate forums, and
11
WHEREAS, FJCCSGA is an organization dedicated to advancing
12
students' abilities to participate in community service, civil
13
engagement, and political awareness opportunities, and
14
WHEREAS, FJCCSGA is a student-run and student-directed
15
organization, relying on student involvement to sustain its
16
purpose and leadership, and
17
WHEREAS, FJCCSGA's purpose is "to unify the member colleges
18
in order to best attend to the appropriate concerns of the
19
students of the Florida community college and serve as a vehicle
20
to communicate these concerns to the Florida Legislative Body"
21
(Article I, Section III of FJCCSGA Constitution), and
22
WHEREAS, FJCCSGA's success as an organization over the years
23
can be seen by identifying the countless student representatives
24
that have gone on to serve as state and national legislators,
25
college and university presidents, corporate CEOs, respected
26
physicians, and leaders in virtually every field, NOW, THEREFORE,

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

That the Senate recognizes and commends FJCCSGA for 50 years
31
of service to the students in the Florida Community College
32
system.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Florida Senate encourages
34
the efforts of FJCCSGA and supports its purpose of promoting
35
student engagement for another 50 years to come and that a copy
36
of this resolution, with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be
37
presented to FJCCSGA as a tangible token of the sentiments of the
38
Florida Senate.
