An act relating to school funding; providing definitions;

requiring the distribution of certain funds received by a

4

school district to another school district when a student

5

is enrolled in a school located outside of the school

6

district where the student resides; providing an effective

7

date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1. Distribution of school funds outside a student's

12

district of residence.--

     (1) As used in this section, the term:

14

     (a) "Public K-12 school" has the same meaning as in s.

15

1000.04, Florida Statutes.

     (b) "Private school" has the same meaning as in s. 1002.01,

17

Florida Statutes.

     (2) If a student who resides in one school district is

19

enrolled in a public K-12 school that is located in another

20

school district or is enrolled through the Corporate Income Tax

21

Credit Scholarship Program, the Opportunity Scholarship Program,

22

or the John M. McKay Scholarships for Students with Disabilities

23

Program in a private school that is located in another school

24

district, the school district where the student resides shall

25

distribute any funds it receives for that student's education to

26

the school district where the student is enrolled.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
