| 9 | to contracting with the University of West Florida as a | 
| 10 | regional office serving a specified area, to conform; | 
| 11 | repealing s. 267.174, F.S., relating to the Discovery of | 
| 12 | Florida Quincentennial Commemoration Commission; providing | 
| 13 | an effective date. |

| 15 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | 
| 16 | 
 | 
| 17 | Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 15.09, Florida | 
| 18 | Statutes, is amended to read: | 
| 19 | 15.09  Fees.-- | 
| 20 | (1)  The fees, except as provided by law, to be collected | 
| 21 | by the Department of State, are: | 
| 22 | (a)  For searching of papers or records, $3.50, except that  | 
| 23 | there shall be no charge for telephone requests for general  | 
| 24 | corporate information, including the corporation's status, names  | 
| 25 | of officers and directors, address of principal place of  | 
| 26 | business, and name and address of resident agent. | 
| 27 | (a) (b)For providing a certificate with seal, $8.75; | 
| 28 | however, no fee shall be charged for providing a certificate | 
| 29 | with seal to any officer appointed to an office requiring Senate | 
| 30 | confirmation. | 
| 31 | (b) (c)For furnishing statistical information and for | 
| 32 | copying any document not mentioned, $1 per page or fraction | 
| 33 | thereof. | 
| 34 | Section 2.  Paragraph (m) of subsection (5) of section | 
| 35 | 267.031, Florida Statutes, is amended, and paragraphs (n) | 
| 36 | through (p) of that subsection are redesignated as paragraphs | 
| 37 | (m) through (o), respectively, to read: | 
| 38 | 267.031  Division of Historical Resources; powers and | 
| 39 | duties.-- | 
| 40 | (5)  It is the responsibility of the division to: | 
| 41 | (m)  Establish regional offices for the purpose of  | 
| 42 | assisting the division in the delivery of historic preservation  | 
| 43 | services to the counties and municipalities of the state and to  | 
| 44 | the citizens of the State of Florida. Historic preservation  | 
| 45 | regional offices shall be established in at least three areas of  | 
| 46 | the state which the division deems appropriate. For each  | 
| 47 | regional office established, the division shall establish a  | 
| 48 | citizen advisory board to provide assistance, advice, and  | 
| 49 | recommendations to the regional office. The members of each  | 
| 50 | citizen advisory board shall be appointed by the Secretary of  | 
| 51 | State. | 
| 52 | Section 3.  Subsection (5) of section 267.173, Florida | 
| 53 | Statutes, is amended, and subsections (6) through (8) of that | 
| 54 | section are renumbered as subsections (5) through (7), | 
| 55 | respectively, to read: | 
| 56 | 267.173  Historic preservation in West Florida; goals; | 
| 57 | contracts for historic preservation; powers and duties.-- | 
| 58 | (5)  The Division of Historical Resources in the Department  | 
| 59 | of State may contract with the University of West Florida to  | 
| 60 | serve as the regional office for the West Florida region of the  | 
| 61 | state from the Apalachicola River to the western boundaries of  | 
| 62 | the state. In lieu of the establishment of a citizen advisory  | 
| 63 | board as required by s. 267.031(5)(m), the University of West  | 
| 64 | Florida may use an existing direct-support organization of the  | 
| 65 | university provided that the membership of the direct-support  | 
| 66 | organization is representative of the area of the state to be  | 
| 67 | served and provides the needed expertise in the area of historic  | 
| 68 | preservation. | 
| 69 | Section 4.  Section 267.174, Florida Statutes, is repealed. | 
| 70 | Section 5.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
