     (2) By December 2008, each hospital shall establish a

9

policy addressing the safe lifting, and associated handling, of

10

patients by hospital employees which minimize the risk of

11

injuries to patients and employees. The policy shall be

12

developed by a committee composed of an appropriate mix of

13

management and nonmanagement employees, at least half of whom

14

are clinical employees engaged in direct patient care, including

15

registered nurses engaged in direct patient care. The hospital

16

may assign this task to a newly created committee or to an

17

existing committee.
