10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

12 | Section 1. Subsection (19) of section 893.02, Florida |
13 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
14 | 893.02 Definitions.--The following words and phrases as |
15 | used in this chapter shall have the following meanings, unless |
16 | the context otherwise requires: |
17 | (19) "Practitioner" means a physician licensed under |
18 | pursuant to chapter 458, a dentist licensed under pursuant to |
19 | chapter 466, a veterinarian licensed under pursuant to chapter |
20 | 474, an osteopathic physician licensed under pursuant to chapter |
21 | 459, a naturopath licensed under pursuant to chapter 462, or a |
22 | podiatric physician licensed under pursuant to chapter 461, or |
23 | an advanced registered nurse practitioner certified under s. |
24 | 464.012 whose practice is located within a medically underserved |
25 | area or who provides care to a medically underserved population |
26 | as designated by the Health Resources and Services |
27 | Administration of the United States Department of Health and |
28 | Human Services if provided such practitioner holds a valid |
29 | federal controlled substance registry number. An advanced |
30 | registered nurse practitioner certified under s. 464.012 whose |
31 | practice is located within a medically underserved area or who |
32 | provides care to a medically underserved population as |
33 | designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration |
34 | of the United States Department of Health and Human Services may |
35 | prescribe substances listed in Schedule II, Schedule III, |
36 | Schedule IV, or Schedule V of s. 893.03 to the extent authorized |
37 | by a protocol with a physician licensed under chapter 458 or |
38 | chapter 459. |
39 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
