11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
12 |

13 | Section 1. Section 458.3096, Florida Statutes, is created |
14 | to read: |
15 | 458.3096 Prohibition of medical residency or licensure in |
16 | the state; grounds for prohibition; exception.-- |
17 | (1) The department shall not register a person under s. |
18 | 458.345 who is a United States citizen or United States resident |
19 | who has traveled to Cuba to receive medical training or a |
20 | medical degree. In addition, the department shall not issue a |
21 | license under this chapter to any United States citizen or |
22 | United States resident who has traveled to Cuba to receive |
23 | medical training or a medical degree. |
24 | (2) This prohibition does not apply to any native or |
25 | citizen of Cuba who received his or her medical training or |
26 | medical degree in Cuba prior to immigrating to the United |
27 | States. |
28 | Section 2. Section 459.0052, Florida Statutes, is created |
29 | to read: |
30 | 459.0052 Prohibition of medical residency or licensure in |
31 | the state; grounds for prohibition; exception.-- |
32 | (1) The department shall not register a person under s. |
33 | 459.021 who is a United States citizen or United States resident |
34 | who has traveled to Cuba to receive medical training or a |
35 | medical degree. In addition, the department shall not issue a |
36 | license under this chapter to any United States citizen or |
37 | United States resident who has traveled to Cuba to receive |
38 | medical training or a medical degree. |
39 | (2) This prohibition does not apply to any native or |
40 | citizen of Cuba who received his or her medical training or |
41 | medical degree in Cuba prior to immigrating to the United |
42 | States. |
43 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
