3     Amendment
4     Remove lines 196-206 and insert:
5     (d)  Expand the foundation of biomedical knowledge relating
6to the deadly and most widespread acute, chronic, and
7degenerative diseases and identify biomedical solutions
8regarding health disparities that exist in relation to these
9diseases.
10     (e)(c)  Improve the quality of the state's academic health
11centers by bringing the advances of biomedical research into the
12training of physicians and other health care providers.
13     (f)(d)  Increase the state's per capita funding for
14research by undertaking new initiatives in public health and
15biomedical research that will attract additional funding from
16outside the state.
17     (g)(e)  Stimulate economic activity in the state in areas
18related to biomedical research, such as the research and
19production of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical
20devices.
