4 | Remove lines 166-194 and insert: |
5 | (e) A school district that terminates its program under |
6 | paragraph (d) shall contract with a provider selected and |
7 | approved by the department for the provision of virtual |
8 | instruction until the school district receives approval from the |
9 | department to operate a new school district virtual instruction |
10 | program. |
11 | (f) A school district virtual instruction program must |
12 | have a sufficient number of students enrolled in each grade for |
13 | a grade to be assigned to the program pursuant to s. 1008.34 and |
14 | State Board of Education rule. |
15 | (9) EXCEPTIONS.--A provider of digital or online content |
16 | or curriculum that is used to supplement the instruction of |
17 | students who are not enrolled in a virtual instruction program |
18 | under this section is not required to meet the requirements of |
19 | this section. |
20 | (10) MARKETING.--Any information provided by a school |
21 | district to parents and students regarding the school district's |
22 | virtual instruction program must include information about |
23 | opportunities available at, and the parent's and student's right |
24 | to access courses offered by, the Florida Virtual School under |
25 | s. 1002.37. |
26 | (11) 2008-2009 SCHOOL DISTRICT VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION |
27 | PROGRAM.--For the 2008-2009 school year, each school district in |
28 | the state may offer a school district virtual instruction |
29 | program to provide full-time virtual courses in kindergarten |
30 | through grade 8 or to provide full-time or part-time virtual |
31 | courses in grades 9 through 12 as authorized in paragraph |
32 | (7)(c). Such program may be operated or contracted as provided |
33 | under paragraph (1)(b) and must comply with all requirements of |
34 | this section, except that contracts under this subsection may |
35 | only be issued for virtual courses in kindergarten through grade |
36 | 8 to providers operating under s. 1002.415 or for virtual |
37 | courses in grades 9 through 12 as authorized under paragraph |
38 | (7)(c) to providers who contracted with a regional consortium in |
39 | the 2007-2008 school year to provide such services. |
