| 7 | to read: |
| 8 | 1006.125 Referrals to law enforcement; serious offenses.-- |
| 9 | (1) A student alleged to have committed a serious offense |
| 10 | shall be reported to the law enforcement agency having |
| 11 | jurisdiction over the student's school of attendance. This |
| 12 | requirement may be satisfied by providing notice to the |
| 13 | appropriate school resource officer of the charge of violation |
| 14 | of the code of student conduct and discipline code. |
| 15 | (2) As used in this section, serious offense includes an |
| 16 | offense that would constitute a capital felony; life felony; |
| 17 | first degree felony; second or third degree felony involving a |
| 18 | firearm or weapon or violence against another person; a |
| 19 | delinquent act that would constitute such a felony if committed |
| 20 | by an adult; or an offense that poses a serious threat to school |
| 21 | safety or the safety of any individual student or group of |
| 22 | students. |
