| 5 | Section 111. The Department of Education and the |
| 6 | Department of Environmental Protection shall, in coordination |
| 7 | with representatives of the business community, the |
| 8 | environmental community, and the energy community, develop a |
| 9 | program to provide awards or recognition for outstanding efforts |
| 10 | or achievements concerning conservation, reductions in energy |
| 11 | and water use, green cleaning solutions, green pest management, |
| 12 | recycling efforts, and curriculum development that is consistent |
| 13 | with efforts that enhance the quality of education while |
| 14 | preserving the environment. Entities that are eligible for such |
| 15 | an award or recognition include students, classes, teachers, |
| 16 | schools, or district school boards. The Legislature encourages |
| 17 | the Department of Education and the Department of Environmental |
| 18 | Protection to form partnerships with the private sector to help |
| 19 | fund the program. |
