The Committee on Health Regulation (Fasano) recommended the

following amendment:

     Senate Amendment (with title amendments)

     Delete everything after the enacting clause

6

and insert:

     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 464.0115, Florida

8

Statutes, is amended to read:

9

     464.0115  Certification of clinical nurse specialists.--

10

     (1)  Any nurse seeking certification as a clinical nurse

11

specialist must apply to the department and submit proof that he

12

or she holds a current license to practice professional nursing,

13

a master's degree in a clinical nursing specialty, and either:

14

     (a) Proof of current certification in a specialty area as

15

a clinical nurse specialist from a nationally recognized

16

certifying body as determined by the board; or.

17

     (b) Proof that he or she is academically prepared as a

18

clinical nurse specialist in a specialty area for which there is

19

no certification within the clinical nurse specialist role and

20

specialty and proof of having completed 1,000 hours of clinical

21

experience in the clinical specialty for which he or she is

22

academically prepared, with a minimum of 500 hours of clinical

23

practice after graduation. The applicant for certification as a

24

clinical nurse specialist must submit an affidavit to the Board

25

of Nursing affirming the required hours of clinical experience.

26

Falsification of the affidavit constitutes grounds for

27

discipline in accordance with s. 464.018(1)(f).

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2008.
