A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to licensure of psychologists; amending s.
3490.005, F.S.; requiring the Board of Psychology to close
4application files of applicants failing to pass certain
5examinations, or failing to submit evidence of completion
6of postdoctoral supervised experience, within a specified
7timeframe; providing for application for extension;
8providing that an individual who completes the required
9postdoctoral training residency may continue to practice
10under supervision under certain conditions; providing an
11effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15     Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 490.005,
16Florida Statutes, to read:
17     490.005  Licensure by examination.--
18     (3)(a)  The board shall close the application file of any
19applicant who fails to pass the psychology licensure examination
20and the laws and rules examination, or fails to submit evidence
21of completion of the postdoctoral supervised experience, within
22a timeframe no longer than 24 months.
23     (b)  The board shall implement a procedure by which an
24applicant may apply for an extension of the required timeframe.
25     (c)  An individual who completes the required postdoctoral
26training residency may continue to practice under supervision in
27a manner prescribed by the board by rule provided he or she has
28a current application on file and no final order of denial has
29been issued.
30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2009.
