A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to psychology licensure; amending s.
3490.005, F.S.; requiring the Board of Psychology within
4the Department of Health to close an application of an
5applicant who fails to pass the licensure examination or
6submit evidence of completing postdoctoral training within
7a specified period; requiring that the board provide for
8exceptions; authorizing persons who have completed
9postdoctoral residency training to continue the practice
10of psychology under certain circumstances; providing an
11effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15     Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 490.005,
16Florida Statutes, to read:
17     490.005  Licensure by examination.--
18     (3)(a)  The board shall close the application file of any
19applicant who fails to pass the psychology licensure examination
20and the Florida law and rules portion of the examination or who
21fails to submit evidence of completion of the postdoctoral,
22supervised experience within a timeframe no longer than 24
23months.
24     (b)  The board shall implement a procedure by which an
25applicant may apply for an extension beyond the required
26timeframe.
27     (c)  An individual who completes the required postdoctoral
28training residency may continue to practice under supervision if
29she or he does so in a manner prescribed by the board by rule,
30has a current application on file, and no final order of denial
31has been issued.
32     Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2009.
