| 6 | WHEREAS, Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor |
| 7 | Vehicles' emergency contact information system allows all |
| 8 | individuals with a valid Florida driver's license to voluntarily |
| 9 | provide emergency contact information online, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, the 2006 creation of the emergency contact |
| 11 | information system, a secure database system accessible only by |
| 12 | law enforcement officials, was the result of efforts by Manatee |
| 13 | County resident Christine Olson, and |
| 14 | WHEREAS, following the tragic death of her daughter, |
| 15 | Tiffiany, in a 2005 vehicular accident and the absence of |
| 16 | immediate notification of the accident due to the lack of |
| 17 | availability of emergency contact information, Ms. Olson, with |
| 18 | the assistance of State Representative Bill Galvano, advocated |
| 19 | for a solution to prevent similar situations in the future, and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, the American Association of Motor Vehicle |
| 21 | Administrators has recognized the Department of Highway Safety |
| 22 | and Motor Vehicles with an award for excellence in customer |
| 23 | service for the department's creation and promotion of its |
| 24 | emergency contact information system, and |
| 25 | WHEREAS, Ms. Olson and the Department of Highway Safety and |
| 26 | Motor Vehicles are urging all individuals with a valid Florida |
| 27 | driver's license to enter their emergency contact information |
| 28 | into the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) system |
| 29 | so that families can be contacted quickly in the event of an |
| 30 | emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 32 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 33 | Florida: |

| 35 | That it is fitting that Ms. Christine Olson be recognized |
| 36 | for her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives |
| 37 | of the citizens of Florida. |
| 38 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 39 | presented to Ms. Christine Olson as a tangible token of the |
| 40 | sentiments expressed herein. |
