1	House Resolution
2	A resolution recognizing the City of Pompano Beach for its
3	2008 Centennial Celebration.

5	WHEREAS, the City of Pompano Beach was originally
6	incorporated on July 3, 1908, and
7	WHEREAS, Pompano Beach is the second oldest municipality in
8	Broward County, and
9	WHEREAS, there are only four cities in South Florida that
10	were incorporated before Pompano Beach, and
11	WHEREAS, reaching the historic century mark is a
12	significant milestone for a South Florida municipality, and
13	WHEREAS, it is appropriate and in the public interest that
14	such a milestone be the subject of a communitywide celebration
15	and commemoration, and
16	WHEREAS, the Pompano Beach City Commission has established
17	the Pompano Beach Centennial Celebration Committee for the
18	purpose of planning and producing a public commemoration of the
19	city's 100th birthday, and
20	WHEREAS, in observance of the Pompano Beach Centennial
21	Year, the city's residents, business people, and visitors are
22	encouraged to support and participate in the various activities
23	and programs that will celebrate this important milestone in the
24	city's history, NOW, THEREFORE,

26	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
27	Florida:

29	That the City of Pompano Beach is hereby congratulated and
30	recognized for its upcoming 2008 Centennial Celebration.
