House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing April 10, 2008, as "Hillsborough
3County Day."

5     WHEREAS, Hillsborough County was organized as a county in
61834 and is now comprised of some 1,050 square miles with a
7population exceeding 1 million people, and
8     WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is home to three
9municipalities: Plant City, chartered in 1885; Tampa, chartered
10in 1887; and Temple Terrace, chartered in 1925, and
11     WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is a multicultural, diverse
12community, a microcosm of the state of Florida, with a breadth
13of lifestyles, including a strong urban core, two smaller
14municipalities with Main Street ambience, a flourishing
15suburbia, community living for the active elderly, and rural
16areas for those who choose pastoral or agrarian lifestyles, and
17     WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is the western anchor of the
1823-county Florida High Tech Corridor and is the largest of the 8
19member counties that comprise the Bay Area Legislative
20Delegation, and
21     WHEERAS, Hillsborough County is at the epicenter of
22business and commerce of a region with excellent, ever-improving
23and expanding transportation systems to move people and goods
24via Tampa International Airport, the Port of Tampa, and the
25interconnecting interstate systems, and
26     WHEREAS, Hillsborough County offers an almost unlimited
27menu of opportunities ranging from state of the art health care
28and seamless K-12 through state university education to cultural
29events, historic districts, beaches, parks, and prestigious
30sporting events, NOW, THEREFORE,

32Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
33Florida:

35     That April 10, 2008, is recognized as "Hillsborough County
36Day" as the House of Representatives celebrates the 5th
37Anniversary of "Flavors of Hillsborough" at the State Capitol.
