2 | A resolution recognizing April 10, 2008, as "Hillsborough |

5 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County was organized as a county in |
6 | 1834 and is now comprised of some 1,050 square miles with a |
7 | population exceeding 1 million people, and |
8 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is home to three |
9 | municipalities: Plant City, chartered in 1885; Tampa, chartered |
10 | in 1887; and Temple Terrace, chartered in 1925, and |
11 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is a multicultural, diverse |
12 | community, a microcosm of the state of Florida, with a breadth |
13 | of lifestyles, including a strong urban core, two smaller |
14 | municipalities with Main Street ambience, a flourishing |
15 | suburbia, community living for the active elderly, and rural |
16 | areas for those who choose pastoral or agrarian lifestyles, and |
17 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is the western anchor of the |
18 | 23-county Florida High Tech Corridor and is the largest of the 8 |
19 | member counties that comprise the Bay Area Legislative |
20 | Delegation, and |
21 | WHEERAS, Hillsborough County is at the epicenter of |
22 | business and commerce of a region with excellent, ever-improving |
23 | and expanding transportation systems to move people and goods |
24 | via Tampa International Airport, the Port of Tampa, and the |
25 | interconnecting interstate systems, and |
26 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County offers an almost unlimited |
27 | menu of opportunities ranging from state of the art health care |
28 | and seamless K-12 through state university education to cultural |
29 | events, historic districts, beaches, parks, and prestigious |
30 | sporting events, NOW, THEREFORE, |

32 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

35 | That April 10, 2008, is recognized as "Hillsborough County |
36 | Day" as the House of Representatives celebrates the 5th |
37 | Anniversary of "Flavors of Hillsborough" at the State Capitol. |
