2	A resolution recognizing April 2008 as "Landscape
3	Architecture Month" in Florida.

5	WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
6	significantly enriches the quality of life enjoyed by Floridians
7	and visitors to our great state, and
8	WHEREAS, landscape architects, through thoughtful planning
9	and design and careful stewardship of our state's land and water
10	resources, preserve, protect, and conserve Florida's scenic
11	beauty, unique and fragile ecosystems, and abundant natural
12	resources, and
13	WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture enhances
14	the built environment through skillful and artful creation of
15	safe, functional, accessible, secure, and aesthetically pleasing
16	public and private places, and
17	WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture fosters
18	and promotes economically and ecologically sustainable
19	development of Florida's land and water resources for citizens'
20	present enjoyment while ensuring future generations the same
21	opportunity, and
22	WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
23	encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and
24	stewardship of natural and built environments through the design
25	of a broad and diverse spectrum of projects, including those
26	involving urban design; streetscapes and public spaces;
27	transportation corridors and facilities; security design;
28	greenways, parks, and recreation areas; monuments; historic
29	preservation and restoration; residential property; hospitality
30	and resort complexes; corporate and commercial facilities;
31	institutional facilities; academic campuses; conservation
32	design; reclamation design; landscape art and earth sculpture;
33	gardens and arboreta; and interior landscapes, and
34	WHEREAS, excellence in the practice of professional
35	landscape architecture is promoted through graduate and
36	undergraduate programs in landscape architecture offered through
37	the State University System and dutifully regulated by the
38	Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Board
39	of Landscape Architecture, and
40	WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture serves a
41	unique and vital role in both the development and green
42	industries in Florida, which contribute tens of billions of
43	dollars to Florida's economy annually, NOW, THEREFORE,

45	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
46	Florida:

48	That the month of April is designated as "Landscape
49	Architecture Month" in Florida in recognition and celebration of
50	the valuable and important contributions made by landscape
51	architects for the betterment of Florida.
