House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing April 2008 as "Landscape
3Architecture Month" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
6significantly enriches the quality of life enjoyed by Floridians
7and visitors to our great state, and
8     WHEREAS, landscape architects, through thoughtful planning
9and design and careful stewardship of our state's land and water
10resources, preserve, protect, and conserve Florida's scenic
11beauty, unique and fragile ecosystems, and abundant natural
12resources, and
13     WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture enhances
14the built environment through skillful and artful creation of
15safe, functional, accessible, secure, and aesthetically pleasing
16public and private places, and
17     WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture fosters
18and promotes economically and ecologically sustainable
19development of Florida's land and water resources for citizens'
20present enjoyment while ensuring future generations the same
21opportunity, and
22     WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
23encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and
24stewardship of natural and built environments through the design
25of a broad and diverse spectrum of projects, including those
26involving urban design; streetscapes and public spaces;
27transportation corridors and facilities; security design;
28greenways, parks, and recreation areas; monuments; historic
29preservation and restoration; residential property; hospitality
30and resort complexes; corporate and commercial facilities;
31institutional facilities; academic campuses; conservation
32design; reclamation design; landscape art and earth sculpture;
33gardens and arboreta; and interior landscapes, and
34     WHEREAS, excellence in the practice of professional
35landscape architecture is promoted through graduate and
36undergraduate programs in landscape architecture offered through
37the State University System and dutifully regulated by the
38Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Board
39of Landscape Architecture, and
40     WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture serves a
41unique and vital role in both the development and green
42industries in Florida, which contribute tens of billions of
43dollars to Florida's economy annually, NOW, THEREFORE,

45Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
46Florida:

48     That the month of April is designated as "Landscape
49Architecture Month" in Florida in recognition and celebration of
50the valuable and important contributions made by landscape
51architects for the betterment of Florida.
