House Resolution
2A resolution expressing affection for and gratitude to all
3fathers.

5     WHEREAS, Sunday, June 15, 2008, has been designated as
6Father's Day in the United States, and
7     WHEREAS, the greatest education in honesty, decency,
8integrity, industry, and fidelity is to see these qualities
9embodied in the life and works of a parent, and
10     WHEREAS, the American tradition of a productive society and
11a secure home has depended in great part on the hard work and
12sacrifice of fathers who tirelessly seek for their children a
13better life and greater opportunity than they knew, and
14     WHEREAS, fulfilling the demanding roles of fatherhood, as
15provider, teacher, role model, comforter, and protector, is an
16act of true heroism in today's world, and
17     WHEREAS, each new generation looks to its fathers for
18courage, strength, and understanding, and
19     WHEREAS, the enduring affection between a father and his
20family is recognized and appreciated as one of the most positive
21elements upon which our future as a nation depends, and
22     WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the members of
23the House of Representatives recognize the immeasurable debt of
24gratitude owed to fathers for their strength, guidance,
25understanding, and love, NOW, THEREFORE,

27Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28Florida:

30     That the members of the House of Representatives do hereby
31express to their own fathers and to all fathers, on behalf of
32the citizens of the State of Florida, deep personal affection
33and abiding gratitude.
34     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon
35the Journal of the House of Representatives as a tangible token
36of the love and respect that the members hold for all fathers.
