| 5 | WHEREAS, Florida's economy depends on the most efficient | 
| 6 | and reliable transportation system in the state, and | 
| 7 | WHEREAS, the trucking industry is the backbone of the | 
| 8 | state's economy and, as a leading mode of moving freight, is | 
| 9 | vital in the advancement of Florida's prosperity, and | 
| 10 | WHEREAS, Florida's trucking industry safely performs vital | 
| 11 | delivery and pickup of 70 percent of all freight moved in the | 
| 12 | state, driving more than 16 billion miles and serving | 
| 13 | communities, schools, and businesses with dedication and without | 
| 14 | fanfare, and | 
| 15 | WHEREAS, Florida's trucking industry provides more than | 
| 16 | 450,000 jobs and more than $17 billion in wages each year to | 
| 17 | Florida's workforce, and | 
| 18 | WHEREAS, the trucking industry's dedication to maintaining | 
| 19 | high standards to keep Florida moving strengthens our | 
| 20 | transportation system and reflects the spirit of Florida and the | 
| 21 | United States of America, and | 
| 22 | WHEREAS, the hard-working drivers who are committed to | 
| 23 | excellence and haul the loads to make those just-in-time | 
| 24 | deliveries deserve our thanks, NOW, THEREFORE, | 
| 25 |

| 26 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of | 
| 27 | Florida: |

| 29 | That without trucks, Florida stops, and that, because | 
| 30 | Florida's trucking industry is committed to keeping Florida's | 
| 31 | economy rolling, April 16, 2008, is hereby recognized as | 
| 32 | "Truckers Day" in Florida. |
