5 | WHEREAS, property rights are inalienable human rights which |
6 | provide the foundation for individual freedom and individual |
7 | economic opportunity, and |
8 | WHEREAS, the protection of private property rights is a |
9 | guarantor of the ability of individual citizens to store the |
10 | value of their labor in the form of property assets and to |
11 | securely obtain and retain basic wealth as a result of |
12 | individual labor and industry, thereby providing all citizens |
13 | with the opportunity of social and economic advancement, and |
14 | WHEREAS, private property rights have played a foundational |
15 | role in the social and economic history of the United States, |
16 | and private property ownership is credited for helping to |
17 | transform both the Plymouth and Jamestown colonies into |
18 | successful enterprises, and |
19 | WHEREAS, the United States Constitution, the Bill of |
20 | Rights, and our unique form of federal government were designed |
21 | to protect the rights and freedoms of individual citizens, |
22 | specifically including private property rights, and |
23 | WHEREAS, the free exercise of private property rights has |
24 | played a pivotal role in the social and economic development of |
25 | the State of Florida, and |
26 | WHEREAS, private property rights serve as a key catalyst in |
27 | the state economy, because the protection of ownership rights |
28 | encourages individual aspiration and investment in the State of |
29 | Florida, and |
30 | WHEREAS, private property rights are integrally linked to |
31 | the social and economic welfare of the State of Florida and |
32 | should be protected and promoted through public education, NOW, |
33 | THEREFORE, |

38 | That April 24, 2008, is designated as "Property Rights Day" |
