House Resolution
2A resolution designating April 24, 2008, as "Property
3Rights Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, property rights are inalienable human rights which
6provide the foundation for individual freedom and individual
7economic opportunity, and
8     WHEREAS, the protection of private property rights is a
9guarantor of the ability of individual citizens to store the
10value of their labor in the form of property assets and to
11securely obtain and retain basic wealth as a result of
12individual labor and industry, thereby providing all citizens
13with the opportunity of social and economic advancement, and
14     WHEREAS, private property rights have played a foundational
15role in the social and economic history of the United States,
16and private property ownership is credited for helping to
17transform both the Plymouth and Jamestown colonies into
18successful enterprises, and
19     WHEREAS, the United States Constitution, the Bill of
20Rights, and our unique form of federal government were designed
21to protect the rights and freedoms of individual citizens,
22specifically including private property rights, and
23     WHEREAS, the free exercise of private property rights has
24played a pivotal role in the social and economic development of
25the State of Florida, and
26     WHEREAS, private property rights serve as a key catalyst in
27the state economy, because the protection of ownership rights
28encourages individual aspiration and investment in the State of
29Florida, and
30     WHEREAS, private property rights are integrally linked to
31the social and economic welfare of the State of Florida and
32should be protected and promoted through public education, NOW,
33THEREFORE,

35Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
36Florida:

38     That April 24, 2008, is designated as "Property Rights Day"
39in Florida.
