Florida Senate - 2009 (NP) SR 1158 By Senator Peaden 2-01040A-09 20091158__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution commending the osteopathic physicians of 3 this state and recognizing April 15, 2009, as 4 “Osteopathic Medicine Day.” 5 6 WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide health care 7 services that account for more than 59 million patient visits in 8 this country each year, and 9 WHEREAS, this state has four accredited osteopathic 10 hospitals, two osteopathic medical colleges, and the third 11 largest osteopathic physician population in the United States, 12 and 13 WHEREAS, osteopathic manipulation of the musculoskeletal 14 system is a viable and proven technique for many diagnoses and 15 treatments and provides an alternative to many drug therapies, 16 and 17 WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide comprehensive 18 medical care, including preventive medicine, diagnoses, and the 19 appropriate use of drugs, surgery, manipulation, and hospital 20 referrals, NOW, THEREFORE, 21 22 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 23 24 That the Florida Senate commends the osteopathic physicians 25 of this state for their contributions to the health and welfare 26 of the residents of Florida and recognizes April 15, 2009, as 27 “Osteopathic Medicine Day.”
