    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing Tuesday, March 10, 2009, as
    3         “Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the Special
    4         Libraries Association Day” in Florida.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, the Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the Special
    7  Libraries Association is a regional, not-for-profit organization
    8  that has represented the interests of knowledge and information
    9  management professionals and their strategic partners for 40
   10  years, and
   11         WHEREAS, the Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the Special
   12  Libraries Association has as its mission the call to act
   13  regionally to bring together knowledge and information
   14  management professionals and their strategic partners in ways
   15  that promote mutual innovation, learning, advocacy, and
   16  networking, and to support its members in developing and
   17  applying best practices in managing knowledge, content, and
   18  resources, along with consulting and training, and
   19         WHEREAS, in 1969, the Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the
   20  Special Libraries Association was established to serve the
   21  geographic region defined as 67 counties in Florida and 28
   22  countries in the Caribbean, assisting members who are employed
   23  by corporations, private businesses, government agencies,
   24  newspapers, museums, colleges, hospitals, associations, and
   25  information management consulting firms, and
   26         WHEREAS, the Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the Special
   27  Libraries Association strives to provide world-class services to
   28  advance the leadership role of chapter members by putting
   29  knowledge to work to shape the destiny of today's information
   30  and knowledge-based society, offering creative opportunities to
   31  develop and improve professional skills, and building a
   32  synergistic network of Chapter members who actively and
   33  regularly reach out to one another, NOW, THEREFORE,

   35  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   36         
   37         That the Senate commends the Florida and Caribbean Chapter
   38  of the Special Libraries Association on its outstanding
   39  contributions to the service and support of knowledge and
   40  information management professionals in Florida and the
   41  Caribbean and, on the occasion of the organization reaching its
   42  40th year of service, recognizes Tuesday, March 10, 2009, as
   43  “Florida and Caribbean Chapter of the Special Libraries
   44  Association Day” in Florida.
