A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Florida 211 Network; amending s.
3408.918, F.S.; requiring participants in the network to be
4accredited by the Florida Alliance of Information and
5Referral Services and to notify the Public Service
6Commission of such accreditation; providing for revocation
7of 211 numbers under certain circumstances; providing an
8effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Subsection (2) of 408.918, Florida Statutes, is
13amended to read:
14     408.918  Florida 211 Network; uniform certification
15requirements.--
16     (2)  In order to participate in the Florida 211 Network, a
17211 provider must be accredited by certified by the Agency for
18Health Care Administration. The agency shall develop criteria
19for certification, as recommended by the Florida Alliance of
20Information and Referral Services. The 211 provider shall notify
21the Public Service Commission of its accreditation in order to
22receive authorization for the 211 number, and shall adopt the
23criteria as administrative rules.
24     (a)  If any provider of information and referral services
25or other entity leases a 211 number from a local exchange
26company and is not accredited as described in this subsection
27certified by the agency, the agency shall, after consultation
28with the local exchange company and the Public Service
29Commission shall, request that the Federal Communications
30Commission direct the local exchange company to revoke the use
31of the 211 number.
32     (b)  The agency shall seek the assistance and guidance of
33the Public Service Commission and the Federal Communications
34Commission in resolving any disputes arising over jurisdiction
35related to 211 numbers.
36     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
