A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to art in public buildings; repealing s.
3255.043, F.S., relating to a requirement that a specified
4portion of appropriations for new construction of state
5buildings be used for art; providing for the future
6reenactment of s. 255.043, F.S., and the reversion of the
7statutory text to that in effect before the repeal;
8prohibiting expenditures for public art during the interim
9without prior legislative approval; providing for
10application; providing an effective date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
13
14     Section 1.  Section 255.043, Florida Statutes, is repealed.
15     Section 2.  Notwithstanding the repeal by this act of s.
16255.043, Florida Statutes, effective April 1, 2011, s. 255.043,
17Florida Statutes, is reenacted, and the text of that section
18shall revert to that in existence on June 30, 2009, except that
19any amendments to such text enacted other than by this act shall
20be preserved and continue to operate. In the interim, no
21expenditures for public art under that section shall occur
22without prior legislative approval. The repeal of s. 255.043,
23Florida Statutes, shall apply to appropriations for new
24construction from July 1, 2009, through March 30, 2011.
25     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
