Coast Guard or its reserves, or the Florida National Guard; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be
placed on the ballot:
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT
ARTICLE VII, SECTION 6
DISABLED VETERAN’S PROPERTY TAX DISCOUNT; HOMESTEAD
EXEMPTION FOR MEMBERS OF MILITARY RECEIVING HOSTILE-FIRE PAY.
The State Constitution provides a property tax discount on the
homesteads of veterans who became disabled as the result of a
combat injury and provides to certain persons an exemption, up
to a specified value, of the person’s homestead from taxation.
This proposed amendment expands the availability of the property
tax discount to veterans who became disabled as the result of a
combat injury, but who were not Florida residents when they
entered the military, and authorizes the Legislature to provide
an additional homestead exemption for members of the United
States military who are deployed overseas and receive hostile
fire pay.
