       The Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means (Lawson)
       recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (5) of section
    6  154.02, Florida Statutes, is amended, to read:
    7         154.02 County Health Department Trust Fund.—
    8         (5) At a minimum, the trust fund shall consist of:
    9         (b) An emergency reserve of $500,000, derived from an
   10  annual assessment on county health department funds based upon
   11  their proportionate share of state general revenue, maintained
   12  for county health departments to respond to public health
   13  emergencies such as epidemics and natural disasters. The
   14  emergency reserve shall be increased each July 1 by the increase
   15  in the Consumer Price Index that occurred during the previous 12
   16  months.
   17         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.

   23                        A bill to be entitled                      
   24         An act relating to the Department of Health; amending
   25         s. 154.02, F.S.; deleting a provision requiring
   26         certain increases in the emergency reserve of the
   27         County Health Department Trust Fund based on the
   28         Consumer Price Index; providing an effective date.
