    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to county powers and duties; amending
    3         s. 125.01, F.S.; authorizing counties to provide
    4         abatements and rebates of discretionary sales surtax,
    5         fuel tax, or ad valorem tax levied; providing an
    6         effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9         
   10         Section 1. Paragraph (ee) is added to subsection (1) of
   11  section 125.01, Florida Statutes, to read:
   12         125.01 Powers and duties.—
   13         (1) The legislative and governing body of a county shall
   14  have the power to carry on county government. To the extent not
   15  inconsistent with general or special law, this power includes,
   16  but is not restricted to, the power to:
   17         (ee) Provide by ordinance for abatements and rebates of any
   18  discretionary sales surtax levied pursuant to s. 212.055, fuel
   19  tax levied pursuant to s. 336.021 or s. 336.025, or ad valorem
   20  tax levied pursuant to s. 125.016.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
