    2         An act relating to surplus lines insurers; amending s.
    3         626.913, F.S.; specifying nonapplication of certain
    4         provisions of law to surplus lines insurers; providing
    5         for retroactive application; providing for
    6         severability; providing an effective date.
    7         
    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9         
   10         Section 1. Subsection (4) is added to section 626.913,
   11  Florida Statutes, to read:
   12         626.913 Surplus Lines Law; short title; purposes.—
   13         (4) Except as may be specifically stated to apply to
   14  surplus lines insurers, the provisions of chapter 627 do not
   15  apply to surplus lines insurance authorized under ss. 626.913
   16  626.937, the Surplus Lines Law.
   17         Section 2. If any provision of this act or the application
   18  thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the
   19  invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of
   20  the act which can be given effect without the invalid provision
   21  or application, and to this end the provisions of this act are
   22  severable.
   23         Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law
   24  and shall operate retroactively to October 1, 1988.
