    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to a review of the water management
    3         districts under the Florida Government Accountability
    4         Act; reenacting s. 373.069, F.S., relating to the
    5         creation of the water management districts; providing
    6         an effective date.
    7         
    8         WHEREAS, ss. 11.901-11.920, Florida Statutes, the Florida
    9  Government Accountability Act, subjects the water management
   10  districts and each district's respective advisory committees to
   11  a sunset review process in order to determine whether the
   12  districts should be retained, modified, or abolished, and
   13         WHEREAS, the water management districts produced reports
   14  providing specific information, as enumerated in s. 11.906,
   15  Florida Statutes, and
   16         WHEREAS, upon receipt of the reports, the Joint Legislative
   17  Sunset Committee and committees of the Senate and the House of
   18  Representatives assigned to act as sunset review committees
   19  reviewed the reports and requested studies by the Office of
   20  Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, and
   21         WHEREAS, based on the reports of the water management
   22  districts, studies of the Office of Program Policy Analysis and
   23  Government Accountability, and public input, the Joint
   24  Legislative Sunset Committee and legislative sunset review
   25  committees made recommendations on the abolition, continuation,
   26  or reorganization of the water management districts and each
   27  district's advisory committees; on the need for the functions
   28  performed by the districts and the advisory committees; and on
   29  the consolidation, transfer, or reorganization of programs
   30  within the water management districts, NOW, THEREFORE,
   31         
   32  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   33         
   34         Section 1. Section 373.069, Florida Statutes, is reenacted.
   35         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
