       The Committee on Health Regulation (Sobel) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (703924) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    5  and insert:
    6  
    7  	Section 1. STEMI Workgroup.—
    8  	(1) By August 1, 2009, the Agency for Health Care
    9  Administration must establish a workgroup to evaluate and
   10  recommend steps to be taken to develop a model code STEMI
   11  program that might be implemented statewide. The workgroup shall
   12  consider STEMI recommendations from the American College of
   13  Cardiologists and STEMI results being attained in local
   14  communities. This workgroup shall submit a final report by
   15  January 31, 2010, to the Speaker of the House of Representatives
   16  and the President of the Senate.
   17  	(2) The following persons shall serve on the workgroup:
   18  	(a) A representative appointed by The Florida College of
   19  Emergency Physicians;
   20  	(b) A representative appointed by the Florida Chapter of
   21  the American College of Cardiologists;
   22  	(c) An Emergency Medical Services Medical Director from an
   23  urban area, appointed by the Florida Ambulance Association,
   24  Inc.;
   25  	(d) An Emergency Medical Services Medical Director from a
   26  rural area, appointed by the Florida Ambulance Association,
   27  Inc.;
   28  	(e) A representative of a major cardiac hospital, appointed
   29  by the Florida Hospital Association;
   30  	(f) A representative appointed by the American Heart
   31  Association;
   32  	(g) A representative appointed by the Florida Hospital
   33  Association;
   34  	(h) A representative appointed by the Florida Medical
   35  Association;
   36  	(i) A representative appointed by the Agency for Health
   37  Care Administration, who shall chair the workgroup;
   38  	(j) Two persons appointed by the President of the Senate;
   39  and
   40  	(k) Two persons appointed by the Speaker of the House of
   41  Representatives.
   42  	(3) Members of the workgroup shall receive no compensation
   43  and travel expenses or other costs associated with serving on
   44  the workgroup shall be the responsibility of the organization
   45  appointing the member to the workgroup.
   46  	(4) This subsection is repealed and the workgroup shall
   47  stand abolished February 1, 2010.
   48  	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.

   52         And the title is amended as follows:
   53         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   54  and insert:
   55  
   56  An act relating to cardiology services; establishing a workgroup
   57  to develop a model code STEMI program; requiring submission of a
   58  final report; providing for membership on the workgroup;
   59  providing for abolishment and repeal of the workgroup; providing
   60  an effective date.
