    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Center for Nursing;
    3         amending s. 464.0195, F.S.; requiring the Department
    4         of Health to impose a special fee upon initial
    5         licensure and licensure renewal to fund the efforts of
    6         the Florida Center for Nursing; providing that the
    7         revenues collected as a result of the special fee and
    8         revenues collected from nurses who have voluntarily
    9         contributed over and above the required fees be
   10         transferred from the Medical Quality Assurance Trust
   11         Fund to the Grants and Donations Trust Fund; providing
   12         an effective date.

   14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   15  
   16         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 464.0195, Florida
   17  Statutes, is amended to read:
   18         464.0195 Florida Center for Nursing; goals.—
   19         (3) For the purpose of assuring the continued operation of
   20  the Florida Center for Nursing, the department shall impose,
   21  upon initial licensure and each licensure renewal, a special fee
   22  of $3.50 per licensee to fund the efforts of the Florida Center
   23  for Nursing. The Board of Nursing shall include on its initial
   24  and renewal application forms a question asking nurses the nurse
   25  to voluntarily contribute to funding the Florida Center for
   26  Nursing in addition to paying the fees imposed at the time of
   27  licensure and licensure renewal. Revenues collected as a result
   28  of the special $3.50 fee required in this subsection and
   29  revenues collected from nurses who have been voluntarily
   30  contributed over and above the required fees shall be
   31  transferred from the Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund to the
   32  Grants and Donations Trust Fund within the Department of Health
   33  and shall be used solely to support and maintain the goals and
   34  functions of the center.
   35         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
