       The Committee on Judiciary (Baker) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (304236) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete lines 3083 - 3128
    5  and insert:
    6         Section 59. Subsections (1) and (3) of section 430.80,
    7  Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
    8         430.80 Implementation of a teaching nursing home pilot
    9  project.—
   10         (1) As used in this section, the term “teaching nursing
   11  home” means a nursing home facility licensed under chapter 400
   12  which contains a minimum of 275 400 licensed nursing home beds;
   13  has access to a resident senior population of sufficient size to
   14  support education, training, and research relating to geriatric
   15  care; and has a contractual relationship with a federally funded
   16  accredited geriatric research center in this state or operates
   17  in its own right a geriatric research center.
   18         (3) To be designated as a teaching nursing home, a nursing
   19  home licensee must, at a minimum:
   20         (a) Provide a comprehensive program of integrated senior
   21  services that include institutional services and community-based
   22  services;
   23         (b) Participate in a nationally recognized accreditation
   24  program and hold a valid accreditation, such as the
   25  accreditation awarded by the Joint Commission on Accreditation
   26  of Healthcare Organizations, or possess a Gold Seal Award as
   27  conferred by the state of Florida on its licensed nursing home;
   28         (c) Have been in business in this state for a minimum of 10
   29  consecutive years;
   30         (d) Demonstrate an active program in multidisciplinary
   31  education and research that relates to gerontology;
   32         (e) Have a formalized contractual relationship with at
   33  least one accredited health profession education program located
   34  in this state;
   35         (f)Have a formalized contractual relationship with an
   36  accredited hospital that is designated by law as a teaching
   37  hospital; and
   38         (f)(g) Have senior staff members who hold formal faculty
   39  appointments at universities, which must include at least one
   40  accredited health profession education program; and.
   41         (g)(h) Maintain insurance coverage pursuant to s.
   42  400.141(1)(s) s. 400.141(20) or proof of financial

   45         And the title is amended as follows:
   46         Delete line 3470
   47  and insert:
   48         430.80, F.S.; revising the term “teaching nursing
   49         home” as it relates to the implementation of a
   50         teaching nursing home pilot project; revising the
   51         requirements to be designated as a teaching nursing
   52         home; conforming a cross-reference; amending
