       The Committee on Health Regulation (Altman) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Present paragraphs (b) and (c) of subsection (9)
    6  of section 402.305, Florida Statutes, are redesignated as
    7  paragraphs (c) and (d), respectively, and a new paragraph (b) is
    8  added to that subsection, to read:
    9         402.305 Licensing standards; child care facilities.—
   10         (9) ADMISSIONS AND RECORDKEEPING.—
   11         (b)During the months of August and September of each year,
   12  each child care facility shall provide parents of children
   13  enrolled in the facility detailed information regarding the
   14  causes, symptoms, and transmission of the influenza virus in an
   15  effort to educate those parents regarding the importance of
   16  immunizing their children against influenza as recommended by
   17  the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers
   18  for Disease Control and Prevention.
   19         Section 2. Subsection (14) is added to section 402.313,
   20  Florida Statutes, to read:
   21         402.313 Family day care homes.—
   22         (14)During the months of August and September of each
   23  year, each family day care home shall provide parents of
   24  children enrolled in the home detailed information regarding the
   25  causes, symptoms, and transmission of the influenza virus in an
   26  effort to educate those parents regarding the importance of
   27  immunizing their children against influenza as recommended by
   28  the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers
   29  for Disease Control and Prevention.
   30         Section 3. Subsection (9) is added to section 402.3131,
   31  Florida Statutes, to read:
   32         402.3131 Large family child care homes.—
   33         (9)During the months of August and September of each year,
   34  each large family child care home shall provide parents of
   35  children enrolled in the home detailed information regarding the
   36  causes, symptoms, and transmission of the influenza virus in an
   37  effort to educate those parents regarding the importance of
   38  immunizing their children against influenza as recommended by
   39  the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers
   40  for Disease Control and Prevention.
   41         Section 4.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.

   44         And the title is amended as follows:
   45         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   46  and insert:
   47                        A bill to be entitled                      
   48         An act relating to the influenza vaccine; amending ss.
   49         402.305, 402.313, and 402.3131, F.S.; requiring child
   50         care facilities, family day care homes, and large
   51         family child care homes to provide parents with
   52         certain information regarding the causes, symptoms,
   53         and transmission of the influenza virus; providing an
   54         effective date.
   55  
   56         WHEREAS, the State of Florida recognizes the importance of
   57  the influenza vaccine for children enrolled or enrolling in
   58  child care programs, and
   59         WHEREAS, the Bureau of Immunization of the Department of
   60  Health acknowledges that vaccines, including the influenza
   61  vaccine, focus on disease prevention and are the most cost
   62  effective medical intervention, and
   63         WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
   64  through the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices,
   65  recommends that annual vaccination of all children aged 6 months
   66  through 59 months continue to be a primary focus of vaccination
   67  efforts because these children are at higher risk for influenza
   68  complications compared with older children, and
   69         WHEREAS, vaccination against influenza each fall and winter
   70  remains the primary mechanism to prevent disease, NOW,
   71  THEREFORE,
