    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to state lands; amending s. 253.03,
    3         F.S.; deleting provisions authorizing the temporary
    4         lease of the South Florida Evaluation and Treatment
    5         Center complex to Miami-Dade County; providing an
    6         effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (17) of section 253.03, Florida
   11  Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         253.03 Board of trustees to administer state lands; lands
   13  enumerated.—
   14         (17) Notwithstanding subsections (1)-(16), for the 2007
   15  2008 fiscal year only, and upon approval of the Board of
   16  Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund if necessary,
   17  the Division of State Lands of the Department of Environmental
   18  Protection shall lease the existing South Florida Evaluation and
   19  Treatment Center complex in Miami-Dade County, currently under
   20  lease to the Department of Children and Family Services, to
   21  Miami-Dade County for the amount of $1 per year for 99 years to
   22  be used by the county for its expanded jail diversion program.
   23  The lease of the property shall take place in the 2007-2008
   24  fiscal year, and Miami-Dade County shall sublease the facility
   25  to the existing lessee for $1 per year until the new South
   26  Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center is completed on or about
   27  April 2008. This subsection expires July 1, 2008.
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
