    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to secondhand dealers; amending s.
    3         538.03, F.S.; exempting certain businesses that deal
    4         in precious metals from regulation as secondhand
    5         dealers; providing an effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8  
    9         Section 1. Paragraph (r) is added to subsection (2) of
   10  section 538.03, Florida Statutes, to read:
   11         538.03 Definitions; applicability.—
   12         (2) This chapter does not apply to:
   13         (r) A business that contracts with other persons or
   14  entities to purchase precious metals valued at less than $2,500
   15  via an Internet website, media advertising, or telemarketing.
   16         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
