    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution honoring the Florida National Guard and
    3         recognizing March 24, 2009, as “Florida National Guard
    4         Day.”
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard is the military arm of
    7  the Governor and the people of the great State of Florida, and
    8         WHEREAS, the residents of Florida can always be assured
    9  that, when called to protect their lives and property, the
   10  Florida National Guard will respond, prepared to accomplish any
   11  task or mission, and
   12         WHEREAS, the Florida Air National Guard deployed on
   13  September 11, 2001, for Operation Noble Eagle, protecting the
   14  skies over the great State of Florida, and continue to deploy in
   15  support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
   16  Freedom, and
   17         WHEREAS, elements of the Florida Army National Guard also
   18  deployed after September 11, 2001, in response to the attack on
   19  our nation and continue to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi
   20  Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and
   21         WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard is richly deserving of
   22  recognition for securing the safety and well-being of the
   23  residents of the State of Florida and all Americans, as its
   24  soldiers and airmen stand ever ready to meet any future crisis,
   25  NOW, THEREFORE,

   27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   28  
   29         That the Senate celebrates the true and faithful service of
   30  the soldiers and airmen of the Florida National Guard and the
   31  sacrifices of their families, and recognizes March 24, 2009, as
   32  “Florida National Guard Day.”
   33         Be It Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution, with
   34  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Major General
   35  Douglas Burnett, Adjutant General of Florida, as a tangible
   36  token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
