    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution honoring the members of the Phi Theta
    3         Kappa 2009 All-Florida Academic Team.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, April 2, 2009, “Florida Phi Theta Kappa Day,” is
    6  an appropriate time for the Legislature of the State of Florida
    7  to recognize and salute Phi Theta Kappa, the esteemed
    8  international honor society for state, community, and junior
    9  colleges, and
   10         WHEREAS, special commendations should be extended to the
   11  outstanding scholars who compose the 2009 All-Florida Academic
   12  Team, a team of highly successful college students assembled by
   13  the Florida College System, and
   14         WHEREAS, 92 students from the Florida College System, one
   15  private institution, Florida College, and one independent
   16  university, Keiser University, were named to the 2009 All
   17  Florida Academic Team, and
   18         WHEREAS, based on the national ranking of these students in
   19  the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by USA Today and
   20  Phi Theta Kappa, which is known internationally, nationally, and
   21  in the State of Florida as the primary college organization for
   22  the recognition of academic achievement, leadership, and service
   23  to the community, the following students compose the 2009 All
   24  Florida Academic Team:

   93         WHEREAS, the praiseworthy and devoted efforts of the
   94  members of Phi Theta Kappa’s All-Florida Academic Team have
   95  earned for them and their academic institutions the respect and
   96  admiration of the Senate of the State of Florida and of the
   97  residents of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

   99  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  101         That the Florida Senate honors and congratulates Phi Theta
  102  Kappa, the Florida College System, and the members of the 2009
  103  All-Florida Academic Team and commends the team members for the
  104  outstanding competitive spirit and ability evidenced by their
  105  accomplishments.
