5 | Section 1. Subsection (5) is added to section 1006.25, |
6 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
7 | 1006.25 School buses.--School buses shall be defined and |
8 | meet specifications as follows: |
9 | (5) SPONSORSHIP.-- |
10 | (a) A school bus may be sponsored according to district |
11 | school board policies that provide for private sponsorships as |
12 | follows: |
13 | 1. Any individual or business entity may sponsor a school |
14 | bus by paying a fee to be set by the district school board. Up |
15 | to 5 percent of the fees collected may be used to pay the cost |
16 | of an advertising agent involved in the sponsorship. The |
17 | remaining funds shall be used by the district school board for |
18 | school transportation purposes. |
19 | 2. There may be only one business entity sponsor per |
20 | school bus. Individual sponsorships or cosponsorships shall be |
21 | permitted. |
22 | (b) The design, placement, and size of signage on the |
23 | exterior of a school bus acknowledging the sponsor of the school |
24 | bus shall be prescribed by rule of the State Board of Education. |
