    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Department of Transportation;
    3         requiring the department to conduct a study of
    4         alternative highway routes parallel to Interstate 95;
    5         providing an effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8         
    9         Section 1. By December 31, 2009, the Department of
   10  Transportation shall complete a study to maximize the use of
   11  alternative highway routes, including U.S. 301, for the travel
   12  corridor parallel to Interstate 95. The report shall include,
   13  but need not be limited to, identification of cost-effective
   14  measures that may be implemented to alleviate congestion on
   15  Interstate 95 by making other roadways more conducive to long
   16  distance interstate traffic.
   17         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
