House Comm: RCS . 04/14/2009 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Banking and Insurance (Ring) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 25 - 32 4 and insert: 5 (1) If the parent or legal guardian of a minor who is an 6 eligible individual, as defined in s. 627.6686 or s. 641.31098, 7 believes that the minor exhibits symptoms of autism spectrum 8 disorder or other developmental disabilities, the parent or 9 legal guardian may report his or her observation to a physician 10 licensed in this state. The physician shall immediately refer 11 the minor to an appropriate specialist for screening, evaluation 12 of, or diagnosis for autism spectrum disorder or other 13 developmental disabilities. The physician shall also inform the 14 parent or legal guardian of the right to direct access to the 15 appropriate specialist for screening, evaluation of, or 16 diagnosis for autism spectrum disorder or other developmental 17 disabilities.
