A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Florida School for the Deaf and the
3Blind; amending s. 1002.36, F.S.; requiring that salaries
4for full-time instructional personnel at the school be
5increased annually according to the average of certain
6comparable salaries; requiring annual negotiation of
7salary schedules; providing for implementation based on
8funding; providing an effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Subsections (7), (8), and (9) of section
131002.36, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (8),
14(9), and (10), respectively, and a new subsection (7) is added
15to that section to read:
16     1002.36  Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.--
17     (7)  INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL SALARIES.--Critical to
18accomplishment of the mission and objectives of the Florida
19School for the Deaf and the Blind is the retention of valued
20instructional personnel at the school. To bring about such
21retention, the salaries for full-time instructional personnel at
22the school shall be increased annually to the average of
23comparable salaries, based upon academic qualifications and
24years of experience, in the school districts of Clay County,
25Putnam County, St. Johns County, and Flagler County. The salary
26schedule for instructional personnel at the school shall be
27negotiated annually in accordance with chapter 447. This
28subsection shall be implemented to the extent funding is
29specifically provided for this purpose.
30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
