    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating s.
    3         290.0078, F.S.; authorizing the cities of Hollywood,
    4         Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Park, and West Park to
    5         jointly apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
    6         Economic Development for designation of a single
    7         enterprise zone; providing an application deadline;
    8         providing requirements for the area of the enterprise
    9         zone; requiring the office to establish the effective
   10         date of the enterprise zone; providing an effective
   11         date.

   13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   14         
   15         Section 1. Section 290.0078, Florida Statutes, is created
   16  to read:
   17         290.0078 Joint enterprise zone designation for the City of
   18  Hollywood, the City of Hallandale Beach, the City of Pembroke
   19  Park, and the City of West Park.—The City of Hollywood, the City
   20  of Hallandale Beach, the City of Pembroke Park, and the City of
   21  West Park may jointly apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
   22  Economic Development for designation of a single enterprise zone
   23  encompassing an area not to exceed 20 square miles. The
   24  application must be submitted by December 31, 2009, and must
   25  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055. Notwithstanding the
   26  provisions of s. 290.0065 limiting the total number of
   27  enterprise zones designated and the number of enterprise zones
   28  within a population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
   29  Economic Development may designate a single enterprise zone
   30  under this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
   31  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the
   32  enterprise zone designated pursuant to this section.
   33         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
