6 | information.--Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an |
7 | agency, as defined in s. 20.03, including, but not limited to, |
8 | the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the |
9 | Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and any |
10 | person or entity contracting with such an agency, including, but |
11 | not limited to, those in agribusiness, construction, and |
12 | hospitality, may not prohibit or in any way restrict a public |
13 | employee from doing any of the following with respect to |
14 | information regarding the immigration status of any individual: |
15 | (1) Sending such information to, or requesting or |
16 | receiving such information from, the United States Department of |
17 | Homeland Security; |
18 | (2) Maintaining such information; or |
19 | (3) Exchanging such information with any other federal, |
20 | state, or local governmental entity. |
21 | Section 2. Section 125.582, Florida Statutes, is created |
22 | to read: |
23 | 125.582 Communicating or cooperating with federal |
24 | officials concerning immigration.-- |
25 | (1) A county government, whether acting through its |
26 | governing body or by an initiative, referendum, or any other |
27 | process, may not enact any ordinance or policy that limits or |
28 | prohibits a law enforcement officer, local official, or local |
29 | government employee or any person or entity contracting with |
30 | such a government, including, but not limited to, those in |
31 | agribusiness, construction, and hospitality, from communicating |
32 | or cooperating with federal officials with regard to the |
33 | immigration status of any person within this state. |
34 | (2) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a county |
35 | governmental entity or official may not prohibit or in any way |
36 | restrict any governmental entity or government official from |
37 | sending to, or receiving from, the United States Department of |
38 | Homeland Security information regarding the citizenship or |
39 | immigration status of any individual. |
40 | Section 3. Section 166.04935, Florida Statutes, is created |
41 | to read: |
42 | 166.04935 Communicating or cooperating with federal |

44 | (1) A municipal government, whether acting through its |
45 | governing body or by an initiative, referendum, or any other |
46 | process, may not enact any ordinance or policy that limits or |
